Day 11: A Bird Costume, a Roadrunner, and a Zion Loop
Dublin's Report
Halloween at WillowWind, and I wore the bird costume. That is not a metaphor. I was a bird, and I wore it well.
Chester's Report
Breakfast at First Watch in St. George, then a St. George morning with the cameras out, including the metal horse sculptures. A good morning for sniffing and posing, in that order.
Dublin's Report
On a walk break by the ball fields, Chester spotted a roadrunner. Wayne said Chester was ready to leave squirrels and chipmunks behind and chase the roadrunner instead. Chester denies nothing.
Chester's Report
On another walk break the same day, Wayne spotted a small ground dwelling animal that looked like a bird but reminded us of a squirrel or chipmunk. It did not fly, and it was neither an ostrich nor an emu, so that one goes on the list to look up. We report what we saw, and we do not invent the rest.
Dublin's Report
In the afternoon we took the Zion loop drive, out toward Zion, through Springdale and into Zion National Park, with an in person stop at Watchman Campground, our site B053a for November 2. Photos from the drive ran 3:01 PM to 4:17 PM, and we were back in Hurricane by 5:46 PM.
Chester's Report
Dog tip, and this one is a recommendation only, not a trail we walked today: in Zion, leashed pups can hike the Pa'rus Trail, paved and easy by the river. That is the dog trail to know before you go.
Dublin's Report
Home to WillowWind in Hurricane for the night, with the move to Watchman ahead. Follow Paws Parks and Provisions for more of the trip.
